SATA Drive not recognized

I have one old PC with this motherboard. It clearly says it supports SATA II 3Gbps drives, and has 4 SATA ports.

I bought a Western Digital Caviar SE16 640GB SATA II drive.

I installed the ULi M1575 SATA driver that comes with my motherboard (ASUS).

I hooked up the SATA drive properly (power cable + SATA data connector to my MBoard), and it didn't get detected, even after repeated attempts.

Even the BIOS raid utility could not detect the drive at all.

I'm pretty sure it's not a power problem since I detached my working DVD-RW's power supply and fed it into the drive.

Any clues?

(Note: I have an IDE HDD which I boot from)
[OS: XP SP2, CPU: Intel 3.2GHz P4, Ram: 1GB DDR2 667, HDD1: IDE Seagate 80GB).

First are you trying to do a fresh install of windows after adding the SATA drive??? Or was OS already installed when you added the hard disk???
