Sasser Worm infection

Ive have both win98 and xp sp2 installed on my system.Now whenever i start windows xp,it shows a message box saying 'file not found' with the heading lsass.exe.When i click ok the system restarts.The same happend even if i use safe mode or command prompt.So i am unable to load xp at all.Could it be the sasser worm?What can i do to remove it without reinstalling xp?Pls help ..

Try to repair ur XP using bootable XP cd

it could be malware too ! diable system restore. rescan with AV AND A/S, in safe more. reboot. run ccleaner. reboot.

and THEN if problem persists, do as sgstd above^

Dont click on OK--->>restore ur Xp to best know setting/confrigation.

Than do full system scan using one good updated antivirus..and two good updated antispyware. If possible do scan at startup(avast has this feature).

Also perform online scan.
