I am going to buy Sapphire HD 1Gb 5670 gddr5, along with Amd athlon II x4 635 @2.9 Ghz, Msi 785G-e51, 2x2Gb Crosair DDR3 ram, and FSP saga II 400 watts
My question is can I play about almost all games till now in atleast at 1024 *768 resolution?
OR
Along with above configuration, which is the resolution can I play games like GTA iv, Nfs shift 2, Mafia II etc....?

I have another small query.
My friends says the AMD is not good for continuous use or heavy usage. Is that true?
Can I able to play games for many hours with above configs?

Well now, i would suggest to buy a sandybridge based system over any amd config. If on a budget, then get core i5 2400+ h61 chipset based board at a combo price of 13k. It will be extremely future proof because intel has announced that all existing p67,h67,h61 and upcoming z68 will support future 22nm hexcore and octacore ivybridge processors and its official.

So socket 1155 is a safe upgrade path now. Rest, your choice.

About gpu, you have to give us a budget and resolution you will be gaming at. Then we can suggest you the ideal gpu.

offtopic- Believe me, every brand as fanboys and its not surprising. They need to have support but it should be unbiased. Like intel fanboys ,there are amd fanboys as well.

I think the OP has a particular budget which can only fit these components , no Sandybridge.. if so ATI 5670 is the best Option ! And so is the AMD , and no it won't have any problems with long usage.

Regarding mobo, look for some 880G chipset based mobo which are built for new hexacores from amd and will offer you plenty of features and upgrade options in future. Asus M4A88T M LE is available in Kolkata @ 3.8K. It is also available in deltapage.com

Dont you all think 5670 will be an overkill for a 15'' Monitor. Even a 9500GT can handle games at such a low resolution.

Well yes overkill it would be for a 15" but to be honest 9500 might not be able to run some games that ar going to release in near future.
