I want to purchase a router for my dataone H500 plan.

I dont mind if it is wired or wireless.the thing is it should be stable and reliable.

Dlink GLB-502 which my neighbour uses is getting hot !

Any other options under 2K?

two of my friends are using the dlink router u mentioned......its good.
they get good speeds...and i did not notice any overheating even after a days long use.

and that routers firmware options rock!even auto update of dynamic dns clients is supported.

question 1, you have the broad plan before hand or not, I got wireless router of BSNL and it is cool always. even when run 24 Hrs.
And I had got my friend buy Dlink wireless router it also does not gets heated so much.
Buy wireless it would be good.

get one from Pronet, its solid working 24x7 for me
Mine is
PN-ADSL 101E/U.

GLB 502 was mine first, had some heating issues. Got it replaced for Pronet.

Netgear WGR614v7 for 1.7k
Its a wireless router without an inbuilt modem. I use it along with my UTStarcomm UT300R2 modem and have no problems

UtStarCom UT304R2 is the one i am using......visually it sucks but its performance is awesome. No heat up.... ultra quick start up.

@praka
I use Linksys WRT54G. It has a tweakable Linux based firmware and 3rd party firmware can be installed in it for better performance and added features (if you are of the "hacker" kind). I'm happy with this wireless router. I must be about 1.9-2k now.

^for Rs1700/- .production of GLB-502T is ceased already according to distributor for dlink here.
So ,the successor is this model GLB-802C . :)
