Start -> Run and type gpedit.msc, in:

User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System

Set Prevent access to registry editing tools to Not Configured.

PS: Also check ur system with a good anti-virus coz a virus also causes for such condition...

Thanks Vishal. I have a question... How did you find out about this stuff?
Aditya

vishals knowledge about the registry is quite impressive !

u too could build up ur knowledge about it by learning from his tips. also do refer the latest free registry tips booklet grom the digit mag. its xclnt.

also can download The Registry Guide for Windows from *www.winguides.com/registry/

also check out WinTricks 4.0 from www.wintips-inc.com

incidentally u can always enable the task manager ALSO by adding the registry tweak from *www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm or *www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_emerutils.htm

If it's a Registry hack, then ask @Vishal. He will solve your problem.
See, this guy resides in the Registry!!
