Yes, you need a box to convert the signal to VGA.

If your speakers are not shielded, yes it will flicker/distort.

i think you can directly connect it to the DVD player if it has the port, i remember connecting it once to my monitor

speakers have a magnet and when placed on or next to the monitor will cause color bleed or flicker and over time the screws the monitor.


PS: This happens only with CRT type monitors.
