Program list empty

My add/remove applet starts first time but there are no program entries.
I tried a lot of things like prevoius restore point, windows installer 3.1, dial a fix, microsoft KB article using regsvr32 etc.
None has helped.
I can go into safe mode w/o networking and see all entries.
I have safe uninstaller for uninstall....so no immediate problem.
I even cleared the ARP cache.
Now only thing remaining is to install or upgrade xp-prof.

No I don't get any errors.
When i close add/remove and start it again it does not start.
I have to close control panel and restart from scratch.

Did you try to re-register the following ?

vbscript.dll
jscript.dll
mshtml.dll
appwiz.cpl

Also do try this:
1. Click Start, click Run, and then type CMD
2. At the prompt, type REGSVR32 APPWIZ.CPL

2. At the prompt, type REGSVR32 APPWIZ.CPL

I did as adviced in KB till it starts on ARP.
That I did not understand.
Nada. Zilch.
I shall go the step 5 way now.

P.S : I still feel networking is somehow conflicting.

Go To Start > Run > Regedit > Navigate To

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Look For Entries with -1 at the end. Remove the -1.

Until Add|Remove Is Fixed You Can Try This To Uninstall Programs

Uninstalling a Application Through The Registry :-

Start -> Run -> Regedit <-- Enter
Navigate to --->

<--- HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Look For The Program You Want To Uninstall .. They Are Arranged Alphabetically

Once You Find Parent Key, Inside It, You'll find (Right Pane) an "UninstallString". The Data In This Value Can be Used To Remove The Program

Double-click UninstallString And Copy The Data Inside It [Ctrl + C]

Now,
Start -> Run ->Paste The Data [Ctrl> + V] <-- Enter

Now , Follow The Prompts
