I got an iso, which I wrote onto a cd.
In my desktop, the cd boots and displays the first screen. when I start the setup, something goes on(I don't know what, coz i'm new to linux and I can't figure out the meanings of what is displayed there)
and then all of a sudden, system restarts and the cd boots and again displays the first screen.
can anyobdy tell me what the problem is, and how to rectify it?

Maybe your ISO was corrupt or CD is corrupt. Try the best ones like Mandriva 2006, Ubuntu 6.0, Kubuntu,
Suse 10.1, Fedora 5 etc., I suggest Mandriva Linux 2006. It's very easy for users new to Linux like you.
Don't have it, get it from www.buylinuxdvd.com . Linux ISO files must burnt using CD burner software like
Nero or any good software ' "Burn as an Image' option. Goodluck.

mediator, the original poster did NOT invite your suggestions for distros - if you cant help him with his problem, there is no reason for you to advertise other distros !
