Power Saving Software for Overnight downloading

Will Power
Hello
I need some kind of software that will some how optimize my PC so that it reduces power consumption for overnight downloading! Im using uTorrent for the Downloads.
I do switch off the monitor AND set it to 'auto shutdown after the Download completes'.

Im not sure if some software is needed or Windows automatically goes to some low power state, but if it does please let me know.
I know Win 7 already has a low power mode Although I dont quite understand what the settings should be!
The software should be easy to use AND effective!
My Config. is
Core 2 Duo E7200 proccy @ 2.53 Ghz
A Desi PSU (450W Mercury)
Asus P5N MX mobo
2 GB Ram
A 17 Inch monitor
Windows 7 Ultimate
Please Help! :(

i doubt there is any software for that. in case you had an AMD based system there was a few tricks but with Intel's C2D and a desi PSU. not possible. with AMD you can do is turn on Cool&Quite and reduce voltage. Also a better PSU will cause less power draw. so even if you lower voltage, that crap PSU have around 50% efficiency. also PSU have low efficiency at lower power draws.

Interesting stuff.. !

We are hoping to have the Raspberry Pi available to order at the end of February 2012. The initial production run will be 10 000 uncased development-style boards with further productions runs starting once these have been sold.

Switching off Monitor (~80 watts) is probably the only power saving option for overnight downloading :(

Don't worry about Power much it's not as much as many people say :( 200-250 watts at most _)

Back to school!!
There is no such software in general, most Asus boards come with EPU but not sure if yours does, it causes some issues though.

cpu speed and volt will automatically reduce when the pc is in idle state or on low load if OP has enabled power saving option in bios - no need for any special software ;-)

As for the monitor there are some utilities which can be used to turn off the monitor and just by pressing a hotkey combo Op better use a 16inch LED monitor - this will keep the power usage low.

That's a unit for every 3-4 hours which is a lot.

actually it's a lot less - actually less than 50W if Op have the power saving options on and uses a LED monitor - while downloading the system ain't uses much resource - can't believe it - read it here ;-)
