1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans:
I'll use it for occasional gaming (trying out latest games at medium settings)
Web Development (coding and stuff)
Photo editing, video editing, rendering (at times0
Web browsing and other not so intense work
2-3 Virtual Machines (Ubuntu, XP)
2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 45k +- 15k for future upgrade (in 3-6 months)
3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No
4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 7 OR Server 2008
5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 1TB would be ok
6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: Yes I would like a monitor of about 20-23". Something that does not strain my eyes on longer work load. HD Monitor maybe?
7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: I would like to buy all
8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Mid November
9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: Will be done by assembler
10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Delhi
Willing to buy online or from Nehru Place/Wazirpur
11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: The last PC i had was core i3 and it worked good but lagged at few moments and sometimes abruptly switched off or display went blank. Uptil I saw this forum, i always instructed my computer wala about processor, ram and hard disk and rest was handled by him.
This is my first real experience to build own PC. Am open to both AMD and Intel but this should last around 3-4 years (with minor upgrades not costing much).
The cabinet should be such that it does not get full with dust easily as it'll be lying on floor or just above the floor most of the time. PC shall be running 5-7 hours on weekdays and 10-12 hours on weekends if that matters.
Please also suggest a UPS that may provide me backup of 10-15 minutes atleast.
I am trying to get the meanest pc (value for money) in my budget.
Thank You
