1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')
Ans: Will use for office work including some multimedia stuff. Will mostly use Microsoft Office and Tally for office use and VLC for video. OS will be Win 7.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: Looking for around 25k (excluding monitor). Can extend it to max 27k.

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Windows 7

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 60GB is enough. My current HDD is 80GB and is only half filled in over 4 years of use.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: 15" CRT monitor is available with me.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: I plan to keep the monitor, UPS, Keyboard, Mouse and Speakers.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: Immediately

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans:Yes

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Delhi. Will buy locally due to extremely short time.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I am planning to get 60GB SSD as min. capacity HDD available is 320GB which is hardly of any use to me. Paying little extra for SSD for blazing fast speed seems better option to me. I would prefer LGA1155 based system as I will able to update it later (unlike FM1 socket which is ending soon)

Waiting for quick replies as I need to get the system in a day or two.

you can save more by getting a pentium G620 2.6GHz sandybridge based socket 1155 processor for 3500 which is enough for your current needs.

The GPU on G620 is slightly weaker than on i3 2100 (though both are based on HD2000). Will it have any effect on playing of videos on my system? Also I was preferring Corsair SSD over ADATA due to better support. Am I correct in my assumption?

for playing videos the difference in integrated graphics on i3 2100 & G620 is negligible.you can get corsair as i am not familiar with SSD support of various companies.

The 1st gen i3 processors are already EOL. So no point of getting them. Their upgrade path is closed.

Better get the following:-

AMD Phenom II X4 955BE @ 5.9K
Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P (rev. 3.1) AM3+ @ 2.6K
