CPU + Mobo - Intel Core 2 Duo E2140 + Intel DG31PR
RAM - 1GB DDR2 667MHz Transcend RAM
HDD - 160GB SATA Hitachi
GPU - XFX 8400GS 128MB (can also dp without this if u just want office apps.)
Case+PSU - Zebronics Krrish + Antec 450W PSU
Monitor - LG E500 15" CRT
Keyboard+Mouse - Odeyssey Multimedia combo
Speakers - Creative SBS 245

Price with GPU will be Rs.24,000 approx
And without GPU will be exactly around Rs.21,500

Might wanna add a cost of Rs.4,000 for Xp Pro or better use Ubunto 8.04 as u just need office apps and net. Use open-source instead piracy!

Ask me if u have queries:D

Seems like you are an intel lover.

Teh e2140 is not better than the x2 4200+. The second problem with Intel products is that you end up having unused potential products paired up. the Processor supports only upto 800Mhz FSB and what's the point in pairing it with a board that supports 1333Mhz FSB? Essentially you're wasting your money for somethign you can't use.

The motherborad costs 3750 and the M2MNX costs only 2600, and you say there is no price difference?

+1 for amd based system, he can get 17" LCD monitor in this case,
casual computing, and sort of speaker shows he wants all his config in 22K

Basic config with 17" Samsung or LG LCD monitor
Altec Lansing BXR 1121 (2.1 speaker) = 1100
XFX 8400 GS 256 MB = 2100
Logitech Keboard Mouse combo = 700
17" LCD = 7500 - 8000
WD 160 GB SATA = 1800
Kingston/Transcend 1 GB = 1100
Sony DRU 190A = 1200
Cabinet = 1500
This comes to Rs 17500-18000

After this I suggest the mobo and proccy which mostly people are suggesting as above adding the budget for 5-6K making total about 23-24K
because we can get a decent intel proccy and mobo cumposition as well as AMD based system.
After this my suggestion would be atleast get a decent cabinet and PSU instead of normal combined PSU n cabinet spending 3K, which would make the config priced 25-26K

:eek:I do not think he wants heavenly experience, he wants decent performance and workability.
Do not over increase his budget.;)
Just why 2.1 speakers why not Z5500D or bose home theater audio system:p
but I do agree 86GT ddr3 would be much more better than 8400GS just spending that 1K

but besides these he really need to come up with what he wants, I see more n more people asking suggestions but after that going mum even without commenting if it was any help or how they planned out things

we have mentioned config suitable for you, but you have not mentioned whether 22K includes monitor or its just for the CPU.

In any cases we have given a base config similar to your existing PC
You can change intel config bettering the proccy and mobo if monitor is separate from the budget of 22K going for Intel C2D e7200 with any of the following mobo
Intel dg33FB/DP35DPM if intel mobo is your priority
Abit IP35-E or ASUS mobo suggested by my other good friends
with nVidia 3500 gfx card
making the cost of the above bundle as 5.5+5+3.5 = 14K
