Yes, its a virus problem. Download "HijackThis" from *www.hijackthis.de/ and scan with it. Then post the log file contents here. :)
Also scan with a good anti-virus software, like:

FREE : avast! or AVG
PAID : NOD32 or Kaspersky

These kind of problem usually occurs due to virus
Download this excellent clean up engine tool and update frm trend micro

Engine(3mb)
*www.trendmicro.com/ftp/products/tsc/sysclean.com

update(21mb)
*www.trendmicro.com/ftp/products/pattern/lpt609.zip

extract the ipt609.zip update to the same folder as that of sysclean.com and start the sysclean
Sysclean.com file and unzipped update files shud be in the same folder for this to work
This tool will not revert back ur hidden folder option,that sud be done manually(registery editing) after cleaning the disk

@skghosh44
ur computer is infected, scan & clean with above tool

Thanks a lot, You have solved my problem. Now I can access the folder/file in c:\documents & setting\user name\. I have posted a thread for this as under : *www.thinkdigit.com/forum/showthread.php?t=63101, Where forum member was tried to solve the problem, but they failed, one of them also thought that the problem is fictious.
