not able to send mails

I am using thunderbird as my mail client. It is able to receive mails but it is not able to send mails. it gives an error message. I'm using port 465 and TLS for connecting to the smpt server.Please help.

what port is the server listening on .Did you check with the admin? mostly smtp listens on 25 but not sure about ssl.

Are you downloading mail from your ISP? Check with them what settings need to be made for sending mail... Mostly these days, you need to enable authenticate for sending mail too, and you may need to enable secure mode...

chk tat if u using correct settings when u configured ur mail acc in thunderbird if tis does'nt work recreating the same acc in ur client is not a bad idea!
