Norton AV'06 Update problem

i'm unable to update norton antivirus 2006 bcoz previously i'm using NAV 06 trial version. i purchase a new one from the shop.
1st i uninstall the older one, then install the newer one, but after restarting it uses the old serial no..
there is no option for give new serial no. that's why i'm unable to update the antivirus.
plz suggest me.

try this to completelly remove NAV 06

Uninstall Norton AntiVirus using the SymNRT removal utility
Note : use IE and u have to install the active X controller which will run to remove it from ur system
