    Hi,
    I reinstalled Win Xp pro with SP2. I also updated my system with
    Autopatcher XP, after restarting the machine I am unable to hear the
    Startup or Logoff sound please help. I have even configured through sound options in the control Panel.

    go to start > control panel > sounds & audio devices propertise > sounds.
    check status for logoff/logon.

    anyway i have intentionally put 'no sound' for start/shutdown/logoff/logon
    to save a few seconds of startup/shutdown time. :)

    Yeah anandk is right...
    Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices->Sounds
    Check for the status of Logon/Logoff sounds. If they are unchecked then put a tick beside them and check them in the process.

    Your problem should be solved.

    Regards,
    Shovik.
