hi guys, i'm a newbie to linux
just installed Fedora Core 5 today..... Can any1 tell me how to setup a dial-up connection??
I use BSNL cli based connection & i have a internal 56K dial-up modem.

Is it true that internal modems are unsupported in linux??

its not true but only some chipset are not supported. so first u have to check which chipset u have. run scan modem (*132.68.73.235/linmodems/index.html#scanmodem). refer to *linmodems.org/ for more info.

go and get yourself broadband or an external modem. It's been 2 years i've been trying to setup my dialup connection on Fedora.. but to no avail. scanmodem, linuxant and all things never ever worked for me and most probably won't for you (although i seriously wish they do). So finally, I bought an external modem and am happy with it :D

If you are using sancharnet and your modem is detected as supported by scanModem then try this link *linuxhelp.blogspot.com/2004/11/connecting-to-bsnl-dial-up-internet.html.
