Ans: Programming : Eclipse ,Tomcat server,Web logic server, Netbeans SQL database
Gaming : Counter strike(Steam) , EA cricket and football
Watching movies in normal format(DIVX ,MP4)


2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.
Ans: 20000(Can extend 5000 max)

3. Planning to overclock?
Ans: No.. I have no idea about this.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?
Ans: Ubuntu and windows7

5. How much hard drive space is needed?
Ans: 100 GB

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.
Ans: Yes.(1280 x 1024 pixels , 17 inch ..)

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?
Ans: Speakers

8. When are you planning to buy the system?
Ans: In a week

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?
Ans: No .. Will be done by assembler

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?
Ans: Chennai.. Planning to buy locally, But i am ready to buy online also.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?
Ans: I would never switch off my PC and it would be good, If it consumes less power and would be happy if i could watch HD contents and runs smoothly the updated programming softwares.

Dell IN1930M 18.5" 1366x768 - 5.2k

OP can cram in a HD6670 in that budget.
Or
Maybe FX6300+HD6670 for 5k more

arreey answer is yes it means op wants a monitor
and also For OPs needs FX 6300 or any graphic card is truely overkill, not at all needed

I am currently using i3 dell laptop(2GB RAM) 2.40GHZ and have installed windows7. But when i am trying to run eclipse, Tomcat and DB at the same time, The system struggles to run and is initially slow, Hence i need to use remote data base(Server).

1. I am planning to use this desktop as application and database server for local development. Can this new configuration with hold the same requirements. (Its ok if i could stretch for 5K.. )
2. Also i don't need the DVD writer so that i can save 1k over there and i hardly dont use it. Can i install the OS in USB itself or the DVR writer is madantory ?
3. Also i heard that solid state driver is faster . Will it help me in any cause ?

^^ Then you need to increase your budget a little. Running Database server is not an easy job for a Pentium Dual Core Processor.

SSD are costly and not really required.
You can install OS from your USB drive directly, provided you have created a bootable USB properly.

Regarding Laptop, could you be more specific about it? Please provide us the model name of the laptop with complete configuration.

Below is my current lap top configuration. Dont have more idea abt it..

Processor : Intel(R) Core(TM) i3 CPU m370@2.40GHZ
Installed RAM : 2.00 GB
DELL 15R inspiron


With this configuration, I am not able to run application server, Database server and developer tool(Net beans/Eclipse) at same time. The system Becomes very slow.

Since it is slow, I am planning to upgrade. So please suggest a configuration to suit above config and i am now ok to rextend the budget: by (5-10 k) ..
