Hi,
Yesterday I bought one Seagate 80GB PATA HDD and formatted that to NTFS with single partition. The jumper setting of this drive is as Primary Slave. There is another 40GB PATA [my old one] set as Primary Master. In the 40GB the winXP Pro is installed with all the necessary programs. This drive has three partitions C,D and E. The new HDD is assigned a drive letter I:\.
Can I install FC5 to I? If I do will I get a boot option of choosing which OS I want to boot in?
There is one problem with the new drive. If I use my original Windows CD to boot it gives me three option 1. Press F3 to setup windows; 2. Press R to go to recovery console and 3. Press Esc to quit. I could not access the new drive if I enter in the recovery console. At C:\> any command associated to I:\ gives an error massege that "the path is not correct or the drive does not exists". I can only see the disk if I choose the setup option but that install XP  [though this is how I was able to format the disk to NTFS and then only I was able to see it in My Computer]. How can I boot in the dos prompt and also access this new volume???? As i would be required to format this drive to proper file system to install Linux! I tried to use a boot floppy but it did not allome to access any of the two HDDs. Chdir c:\ command brought me back to A:\ prompt .

I know that my question can be termed as bit "Cross Platform" but I really need your help to solve my problem. I am very enthusiastic about Linux so please help.

Thank you.

I think in Recovery Console the Drive must be allocated the next free logical drive letter id - which would be F after the 3 partitions of the first HDD. If you want to see all partitions in Recovery Console run "DISKPART" and this will list out all the drives/partitions.

What about ext2? Are ext3 & ext2 more or less same?
Moreover what is your opinion about FC5? I need to download them but I have FC4 ready in hand [given with Digit DVD]. Is there any major difference between FC4 and FC5?

One more thing : Do I need to install both Linux and Windows in the same physical HDD?
