Hi

I will be purchasing a new DVD RW and another UPS shortly. My configuration is as follows :

Intel 915 GAV Motherboard
Intel 3.0 GHz CPU HT
Samsung MagicBright 17" Monitor
Samsung 160 GB HDD SATA1 7200rpm
Lite-On DVD Rom 16X
LG CD RW 52X
Hynix Zion 512MB DDR 400MHz
Canon xnu i255 Printer
Creative Inspire 5.1 5200
Creative Live 7.1 24-bit Sound Card
Pinnacle PCTv Pro TV Tuner
BPE 600VA UPS

The 600VA UPS can't give me enough backup, so I wanna go for a new UPS

It will supply power to -->

1) 17" Monitor
2) 5.1 Speakers
3) Canon Inkjet Printer
4) ADSL Modem
5) CPU

So the question is what UPS I should go for

A) APC BACKups 650 VA
B) Numeric 800VA

Tell me which one (or any others if u suggest)

2nd thing is that my Power supply is a mere 300Watt Frontech one
Do I need to change it prior to installing a DVD RW ?

If Yes do tell me what sort of a power supply should I go for ?

I m using APC backups 650 Va and it is working fine.

About ur power supply-it will work but I think u shld change. If u r changing than go for Antec 400-450 watts power supply.

For DVD writer

benQ 1650 is suggested by everyone. I also wanted to buy that buy my bro's frnd got benQ 1650 after reading so many reviews and now all of them r suffering. They r saying its not that good. Anyways u can go for Liteon SuperAll Write-model i forgot(165H... forgot).

I beleive I will upgrade the power supply now , if it's necessary or else later when I purchase a graphics card

About DVD RW my choices are between SONY and Lite-On . My Lite-on DVD Rom has till now performed excellent, but it was unable to read a dual layer DVD+R which a friends SONY DVD Rom read prompmtly. So keeping in mind thse issues I wanna go for a SONY DRU or Lite-On Super All Write

Will a APC 650 VA give enough backup for a 17" Monitor P4 III GHz. ????
