Hi

want to replace my hard disk with a new one.

Kindly suggest some models within 4500.

the specs of my mobo are :

2. 400 MHz FSB

Chipset

1. Intel® 845GL
2. Intel® 82801DB ICH4
3. Realtek ALC201A PCI sound controller chip
4. Realtek 8100BL LAN chip
5. Super I/O: ITE8702 chip
6. 1 x 2M bit flash ROM

Memory

1. Type: PC133 SDRAM
2. Max capacity: Up to 2 GB by 2 DIMM slots

Internal I/O Connectors

1. 1 x FDD
2. 2 x UDMA ATA 100/66 Bus Master IDE
3. 2 x USB 2.0 connectors (4 ports by cable with rear USB bracket)
4. 3 x cooling fan pin headers
5. CD / AUX in

I currently have a 40 GB seagate HD, want to upgrade to a 120 GB HD atleast......

Also, as you might have noticed, the mobo spec says that RAM is expandable to 2 GB,

but in the mkt, i cud find SDRAM with max capacity of 256 MB only :(
I currently have 512 MB RAM

Any places where i can get a 1 GB or 512 MB stick????

Thanks in anticipation of your help :)

You need an IDE (PATA) hard disk. 120 GB drives were discontinued some time ago. A Seagate 160 GB 7200 rpm PATA drive will be around 2100-2200.

Computer Warehouse in Bangalore have a 512 MB SDRAM listed for 600/-.

Hi

I dont have a limitation for capacity of HDD, larger the better, but it should fit within my budget :)

BTW, is PATA compatible with my MOBO????

PATA is the ONLY hdd type compatible bro with ur mobo, being a 845 chipset.

so go for that.. witha seagate brand :)

I bought 400 GB IDE in 2700 for same mobo. Was getting identified without probs
Now, things got screwed as I was trying to transfer data from another person giving him the HDD. so it is in Service Center. Do not buy nything less than 400 GB will make you cry. 250 GB is in 2500 and 160 in 2200, too bad beside your budget also is good for the buyout.
So, I am sure u can get more GBs for your system.

Do not know about RAM, I need RAM upgrade also in next week once the HDD comes back. so slask tell me which RAM you put in it.
My suggestion would be to take it to a shop and put the RAM there itself getting it checked. Try putting 1 GB 400 FSB rams in each slot. You can easily find them in the market.
