Broken In
Hi,

I would like to get rid of my 14" Microtek Color monitor and get that replaced by a 19" color.

Any idea which brand should I go for? and the proce for the same.

Thanks for helping me out with my previous question posted an hour back!

Thanks, in advance!

If you want a good cheap 19", go for the Acer AC915. It costs about 13,000.
If you want something superior, go for the Samsung Syncmaster 957MB costing about 18,000. Don't spend any more than this on a monitor. The slight increase in performance is just not worth it.

if you're going for a CRT monitor (which is the likely case) then buy Samsung Syncmaster 19" monitor, good quality monitor; besides it has inbuilt antiglare coating as well.

does ur work really need a 19" monitor

a 17" monitors are cheap now and suffice most uses

also the 19" are bulky and make sure that ur desk has enuf room for it , if u are going with ur option

if u can work satisfactorily on a 17" u can spend the extra money on ur system upgrade or even save the money

just a suggestion its ur wish and money

i very much agree with him
or better go for 17"tft of samsung which would cost round about 20K.
or 17" flat CRT Samsung which cost a bit more than 7k 8)

You can also buy a second hand 19 inch Monitor .

It cost Rs. 6000 in my city.

It doesn't come with any warranty but then also its worth buying.
becoz it is DELL/IBM monitor. Morever its a 19inch Flat Black Monitor.

I have recently buy a 17inch Flat monitor for Rs 3500 & is working fine.

there's always an element of risk involved while buying second hand monitors specially 17" and 19" monitors....
reason: generally when someone buys 17" or 19" monitor then chances are that he/she will keep that monitor for a long time coz they already offer decent view space....ok 15" is a different thing alltogether and thus 15" secondhand monitors are common....my point is that one generally sells their 17" or 19" displays only if they counter some probs. or there's any slight malfunctioning in their working which is not noticeable in the frst place....or maybe someother reason so thats why there's a bit of risk....having said that i'm not saying that u shud not look to second hand market but my suggestion is to avoid it as far as possible....

performance wise samsung 793 MB is the best performing monitor in the market today, offers best brightness in its class....
for ur second query look above....

now coming back to foreveranuj....
so u need a 19" monitor....i've three options for you..

1. Why not to go for a 17" TFT monitor by samsung or LG....
reason: 17" TFT offers same working area(actual viewabale screen size display) in comparison to 19" CRT monitors....in simple words 17" TFT is comparable to 19" CRT in terms of viewing area...and the price difference b/w 17" TFT and 19" CRT is also negligible....both are priced in the price range of 16K-18K(excluding non-flat 19" CRTs which are cheaper)
plus u have ur usual advantages with TFTs....style, less power consumption, less space and offcourse unmatched display quality....
now for TFTs research the market....go for demos from leading manufacturers like smasung or LG or if u want value then acer or CMV or digi-view....and then decide which model best suites ur display and style needs....

2. if u dont want TFT then go for flat screen CRTs from samsung....either samsung 955DF or samsung 957MB...both offers decent performance but are slightly expensive....arnd. 18-19K

3. though i dont recommend this option....if u want cheap 19" display then go for non flat CRTs but believe me they are not worth it.....
LG Studioworks 900B, priced arnd. 12.5-13K
Benq V991....shud be 12K....

ENjoy....

TFTs:

If you are looking out for 15" TFT's then here are some options.

1. Samsung Syncmaster 510n(the best in performance)

2. Samsung Syncmaster 152s(wall-mountable, avg. performace)

3. Acer Al506(high contrast ratio 450:1, lowest price)

4. Philips 150s(not recommended)

5. Philips 150b(comes with dvi input)
