need help in creating a news portal website

Hi.I want help regarding easy scripts having server end and clean client side to create a portal website.CAn anyone suggest me a good asp or php script?Its should be easy to put photos in the short news of the home page.I have created the html templates but i have no idea to use script.Please suggest some good programs
