" It'S iN tHe GaMe..."
So finally deciding to upgrade my graphics card because my old 9500 GT was good for my old monitor which had a maximum resolution of 1024x768. I recently bought a 20" LED and the GPU can't handle it. I tried to run Assassin's Creed Brotherhood with medium settings and some settings on low, the game was somewhat playable but it just doesn't give u the feel :|

So i have asked this before and i have been told that my PSU is crap. (screenshots attached) .

I have enough money for a good PSU and saving more for a good GPU. so i'll be buying only the PSU now. What i need to know is :

1. Tell me a good PSU which would be good for future GPU's (atleast 2 years).
2. Will i be needing to change anything else on the PC for the PSU??
3. Can i install it myself?? shouldn't be too hard i guess. I have installed graphics cards(which didn't require extra power supply apart from the mobo slot),RAMs,Hard Disks by myself.

The budget is currently limited to Rs.3000

Your PSU is useless for any Decent GFX.

GS600 is enough for pretty much any Single GFX Config up to Mid High Card.

Please mention Budget also.

GFX suitable for Your Monitor would be HD6770 -- HD6850 -- GTX 560 Ti (Above this for a 20" is a overkill)

1. GS600
2. No
3. You can. Not that hard job.

Updated original post. I know GS600 is Rs.4000. I can save up some more if it is worth it and suits my requirements.

What about TAGAN TG600-U37??

^^ the PSu buying will depend on what gfx card you will buy in the future -

overall GS600 (48A) is a good choice @ 4k and if you don't want to spend 4k then look for SeaSonic S12II 520 (40A) @ 3.5k - a great PSU ;-)

BTW, TAGAN Stonerock 600W 80+ Bronze is availabe @ 3.5-to 3.7K in KOlKATA and can be considered. It is better than GS600.

^^ i felt that too. :p feels good to be right :thumbs: Ok will get it in a few weeks. And i know that the GPU buying will depend on the PSU but i believe the mentioned PSU will support HD6850 and HD6870 and that these cards will be good for a resolution of 1600x900 for atleast 2-3 years???

^^ ok so the PSU will be good for a 6950 and it will suffice for a minimum of 2-3 years..?? i have a iBall Piano 99 case and a Intel DG41RQ motherboard so will any of the three cards mentioned above give trouble regarding space inside the cabinet??

But the HD6950 is too expensive for someone who is jobless at the moment :wah::banghead: I somehow managed money for a PSU. Guess will have to wait wayyyy looooooooooongg..!!:mad:

Tagan Stone Rock 600W(44A)/500W(38A) @ 3.7/3k and
SeaSonic S12II 520(40A) or Corsair GS600(48A) @ 3.5k/4k

any one these is able to handle your rig with a HD6950.

If HD6950 is too pricey for you then consider Getting HD6850 Cyclone PE @ 9.3k or HD6870 @ 10.8k ;-)

6850= 9"
6870=10.5"

As far as I remember. Now measure the space available in your cabby. ;)

^^ i thought 6850 it was around 8.5" (read somewhere it's 21.5 cm)...and my 9500 gt is just over 6 inches. I measured the space any card up to 9" would do ok. Anything over that wouldn't even fit. Now I'm thinking about getting a larger cabinet which would have additional space and would fit long cards like 6870 easily and an ATX motherboard as well considering a huge possibility of upgrades in the future. Now i am all confused.. :confused:

What do you all suggest??

Huge amount of dirt there! I think it can even take graphics card longer than 10", as the lower portion of the HDD rack is empty without any obstructions an your card can just slide in. Avg width of mobo is 9.6" (244 mm), so you can go for longer cards with your current cabby.

Huge??? you should have seen it two months ago.. :p I still think there would be some difficulty with the space because even though the bottom drive bays are empty the width of the card would matter as well because of the columns which hold the drives.. look at the attached pic...

1.The yellow arrow marked space is just 4.1 Inches

2.My 9500GT is a little less than 4 inches in width (marked in blue)

3.Cards less than 4inches in width would still not fit because the yellow marked space is not exactly in the same line of the graphics card.

what now..!!!
