My budget is within 30k. System is for home and for general purposes.

I am thinking about

DDR RAM 2*512 MB Kingston
Monitor 17" LG
Hard Disk seagate Baracuda 7200 RMP -80 GB
CD Writer ?
Printer ?
Modem Internal ?
UPS ?

Is this configuration is good within my budget? I am also confused between Intel and AMD. which one is best pentium 2.4 or Athlon Xp 2400+? People suddenly seem to be favouring AMD. Please give me suggestions about best configuration.

What are the special hardware requirements if I plan to get braodband at home?

What about the GFX card????

In915 GAUL original motherboard tel Pentium 2.4 Ghz - Go for a AMD 64 3000+
DDR RAM 2*512 MB Kingston - go for a 512 MB its enough. Costs around 2800 Rs.
Monitor 17" LG - Rs 5800 also have a look at the Phillips 17inch monitors. Same price but better revies.
Hard Disk seagate Baracuda 7200 RMP -80 GB - 2600 Rs I think
CD Writer ? - Liteon or Sony - 1500 Rs (max)
Printer ?
Modem Internal ?
UPS ? - APC UPS min 500 W will give u 15 mins back up. Good for proper shut downs for those frequent powercuts.

Also mobo MIS R480 (am not too sure on the model no) which is around 5K. It has an on-board video solution and an AGP slot so that u can always upgrade later.

Hope this will help you for AMD Rig.

I love AMD over Intel and would advice you for that only.

A Nice Config would be

AMD 3000+ or 3200+
Cost 8.5K & 10K Approx

ASUS A8N-E [NForce 4 ULtra Chipset] [Best Mobo]
- No Onboard GPU
- Allows you to overclock your CPU & Ram
Cost 8.8K

OR

MSI RS480 with XPress 200 Ati GPU
- Has Onboard GPU
- No Overclcoking allowed
Cost 6K approx
Ram:- Hynix D43 PC3200 DDR400 2x512MB

Any Gainward/Gigabyte/LeadTek/BIG/XFX 6600GT PCI-E x16 Version not the AGP one

Thats all i can recommend.

if you don't wanna game , then go for intel 64bit just check reviews
but amd 64bit 3200 may not even compete a 3ghz cpu of intel for video etc
