My Graphics Card prob

hi all,
i m new to graphics cards. have never used them. the new one i have is a "G-Force FX series graphics card 128 mb ddr tv" which is written at its back. now the problem is when i plug in its agp slot, it runs (as it heats up) but my Windows XP doesnt detect it. I installed drivers but of no use.
My PC: Intel P4@2800,768MB DDR,Intel 865GBF.
What exactly the problem may be?
Something changes needed in BIOS?
If i lack any information to be given up, i will do that.
Yes,to add it works well when connectyed to my friend's AMD pc.

check your ram with memtest86 for errors....
i has a simillerly prob.
i culdnt install the drivers even....i always used to get restarted.
my ram was having bad chips.

well it was a diff prob altogether.
i didn't knew graphics card is noit a plug and play device. means i gotta reinstall my windows to get the things done.
start with installation and when system restarts first time, i changed display output from mboard to graphics card. i could see things n just dats it. things got clear after installing drivers.
