Multipurpose PC for 45000

So this guy from my neighborhood is buying his first PC and has asked me to suggest a balanced configuration. Here's the usual drill.

1. What is the purpose of the computer? What all applications and games are you going to run? (Stupid answers like 'gaming' or 'office work' will not work. Be exact. Which games? Which applications? Avoid the word 'et cetera.')

Ans: Mostly FPS & RPG games, HD content playback, a bit of photoshop & 3DsMAX.

2. What is your overall budget? If you can extend a bit for a more balanced configuration, then mention this too.

Ans: 45k, can extend 1-2k. Not more than that.

3. Planning to overclock?

Ans: Maybe in future.

4. Which Operating System are you planning to use?

Ans: Windows 7 64 bit.

5. How much hard drive space is needed?

Ans: 250GB.

6. Do you want to buy a monitor? If yes, please mention which screen size and resolution do you want. If you already have a monitor and want to reuse it, again mention the size and resolution of monitor you have.

Ans: 20" is enough.

7. Which components you DON'T want to buy or which components you already have and plan on reusing?

Ans: Nothing.

8. When are you planning to buy the system?

Ans: Within a week.

9. Have you ever built a desktop before or will this be done by an assembler?

Ans: I'll assemble it for him.

10. Where do you live? Are you buying locally? Are you open to buying stuff from online shops if you don't get locally?

Ans: Open to buy online.

11. Anything else which you would like to say?

Ans: This is what I've planned

Component Make Price
CPU AMD Phenom II 960T 6960
Motherboard ASUS M5A88-M 5280
RAM Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4 GB 1550
GPU Sapphire HD 6870 11400
HDD WD Scorpio Blue 250 GB 3720
Optical Drive Asus DRW-24B3ST 1110
Case Bitfenix Merc Alpha 2650
PSU SeaSonic S12II 520 3770
Monitor Dell IN2030M 6100
KB + Mouse Logitech MK200 750
Speakers F&D A-520 1800
UPS APC 600VA 2200
TOTAL 47290

But I have some queries.
1.As he's not OC'ing, will a 1333MHz RAM be enough? Will it cause any trouble if he's OC'ing in future?

2.Can this PSU power this rig considering a future upgrade of a couple of HDDs?

3.And the UPS, enough or what?

I didn't get it, even if he isn't oceing, 1600 MHz ram will run at 1600 MHz speed by default. The PSU is very powerful and can power a lots of HDDs as HDD power consumption low.

^^Let me make it clear. He's not OC'ing at the moment and is buying a 1333MHz RAM. Later when he OC's will a 1333MHz RAM lower the overall performance or is it better to buy a 1600MHz RAM now?

And about the UPS?

Price difference between normal 1333MHz ram and performance 1600 mhz like ripjaw or corsair Vengeance is not too much so it is better to buy performance ram now.
for UPS buy At least 800v/a or 1kva UPS.

And one more suggestion needed. Which will be the best combo for gaming at 1600x900?

1. i5-2400 + MSI 6850 Cyclone
OR
2. 960T + Sapphire HD 6870

Within his budget both are possible. Which one would be better? And will an APC 600VA give 5 minutes backup for combo 1?

The later is better buy. However, HD 6870 is available at 11K+ price now a days. Better get the GTX 560 Non Ti version from Zotac which is around 10.5/10.8K.

GTX560 & HD6870 Pretty Much similar performance so buy whatever you get cheaper.

6850<6870=GTX560 Non Ti for Gaming.

For the Usage Mentioned 960T is enough so no need to go for a expensive i5.

Also My VX450 (Which can deliver upto 550W with ease) is getting over loaded with GTX560Ti (Stock) and Phenom 955 BE (Stock Volt + OCed Frequency) so I would say go for a Cosair TX 650 PSU to remain on safer side. High End OC Card + OC CPU draw a lot of Power. (Considering he MAY OC later as 960T & Cards Mentioned above OC pretty well)

Considering the power requirements and performance I think its better to go for the i5 combo changing the GPU to GTX 560.

This is what I have in mind.

i5 2400 + MSI H67MA-E35 + MSI GTX 560

It fits within his budget, no worry of power shortage from PSU as no OC'ing in future and good performance. What say?
