mp3 Players

Music in various mp3/mp4 formats from 16 to 128 kbps is available on the web. After downloading some songs and writing them on to CDs I find that I cannot play the music on some mp3/DVD players as all of the versions are not compatible with most of the players available in the market. Can anyone pl suggest a mp3/DVD- audio/video player of a reputed make which can handle all these formats?

i have the ipod shuffle and its quite good. I got the 512mb versiion for about Rs.5000 from abroad.
Also comes with the itunes software which helps it link to the net . Also to re-charge and upload songs you need to attach it through the usb port which is on the end of the shuffle.
