mp3 player only works as usb thumb drive.

I hav a 128 mb mp3 usb player.
The china made unbranded one which is very common(Black colour)
It was working fine until recently.
Now it is totally dead as a mp3 player
I dont get any display and cant switch it on.
But when i connect it to my usb port it is detected and works perfectly
allright as a external storage device.
What can be the problem?
Are these things repairable?
I dont hav any warranty.
Can anyone suggest a place where it can be repaired
I m from mumbai(Boriwali)

ya you can take it to china to get it repaired

it doenst have any sort of warranty? you can take it to the shop from where you bought it and ask them to get it repaired if possible.

Had i purchaesed it here then the vendor would have been the first person i wld have approached.
I got it as a gift from a friend who was in china.
Any other suggestions.

use it as thumb drive and get a new one. this time go for branded one.

what is the model/make of the player?

I had once screwed up my ennyah digisoung II 701. Downloaded firmware upgrade program and i in few minutes it was up and running.

I found out that the mp3 player has a inbuilt rescue mode which is activated by turning on the player while the menu key is been pressed.It Chks all the components and formats the player. Chk the net for similar features for ur mp3 player

What does the os show when u try ro unmount the player( or stop it)?
My player shows the model number when i try to remove it.

Stop it like unplugging it from my USB port.
The lcd display is blank.
I doubt if it has a model no.
