How can u ask a moniter with 1280 * 1024 resolution to go with 1600 * 1200.
it all depends on no of pixels mapped on phos[her screen.
i think acer has such moniters

Ignorance is BLISS !!
Many monitors have this facility but I guess yours doesn't !
Why didn't you check it out in the manual or ask the dealer before you bought it ?

1600*1200 resolution is not supported by any 15" monitor to my knowledge. A few high end 17" monitor may support it in interlaced mode (eg. - one out of three 17" monitors I own). Almost all 19" and higher monitors fully support 1600*1200 and higher in non-interlaced mode. BTW, dont ever go in for interlaced mode at any resolution. It is very straining to the eyes. Go for non-interlaced mode at 75Hz vertical refresh minimum at the required resolution. These will cost slightly higher but fully worth the extra bucks spent.

There is a give n take between refresh rate and resolution for a given bandwidth of the monitor. In my case the refresh rate is 85 hz maximum at 800*600 resolution (can also be set lower at 75 or 60 hz) and 75 max at 1024*768. In my case I consider 75 hz as the maximum for the resolution that I want - 1024*768 (all non-interlaced). 1600*1200 is supported at 60 hz interlaced mode - not my liking.
