After weeks of googling I am still confused
the problem being not getting concrete rates in Mumbai area (living in nagpur)
The Config i thought for is

Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3
Intel Core i-5 2500K
4GB RAM DDR3
650W PSU (Suggest company)
Cooler Master Hyper 212+
2x 6850 or 6870 or 560
(of if in budget 2x6950 overkill :)) )
1 TB HDD

To conquer the heating issue by the x2 i am currently modding a 10 year old case (having dimensions of a mid tower) with fan placements using agarbatti smoke, studying the air flow. MSI/Gigabyte is preferred last option is sapphire

Thanks,
The problem is I am not an earning guy and cannot add that 6950 for atleast 3-4 years. I already thought over this the 6950 2gb x2 will be overkill but will have to wait for that too long then.

Hi Omi. Why so particular on crossfire? at 1080p, there are only a couple of games that you won't be able to play on a single card at max details (Metro 2033, witcher 2 with ubersampling on for e.g.). Unless you want to boast about benchmark numbers :)

Most of the games in the market can be comfortably maxed out on geforce 560Ti or the radeon 6950. They will help you game nicely for atleast 2 years without bothering about upgrades.

With crossfire or SLI, there are driver game profiles, heat, power supply and cabinet space issues that must be resolved.

Think it over.

rchi84. Crossfire or SLI is not that big deal now a days. The PSU suggested here can easily handle even SLI of GTX 580 and the driver issues and Heating issues are resolved in 99% cases.
Omi, if you are sure that you are not going to update for next 3 Years then for performance, Crossfire is a good option.

Get MSI 6850 Cyclone Power Edition @ 9.8K X 2 @ 19.6K. For PSU get Seasonic 750W SS-750JS 80+ Silver @ 5.4K. It performs better than a GTX 580.

#Go for MSI Z68 board its FullATX.These board have good layout where you can add CFX easily without overheating.
#For CFX 6950 TX750 is enough
#You need an good ups to protect your computer.

Thanks Cilus for pointing out ;-)

Yes absolutely. Multigpu setups are on the rise now due to much improved scaling of current gen cards than ever.

So for 1080p, a 6850cfx looks sweet. Performs faster than gtx 580 and much faster than 6970 and 6950.

Thanks all for the suggestions

I was wondering why not the 6870 x2?
I am planning to buy 4 of those for me and my friend so i may get it at 10500 or 11k, rather than 19600rs on 6850x2 , at 22k 2x6870 seems much more powerful, and yes no upgrade for atleast 3.5 years. so the xtra 2k may do more justice

on the PSU, can i save there by using a 650W psu (almost enuff for the 2x6870 it will be running at >80%-85% of the max capacity)
Also should I consider teh ASRock p67 along with the z68 or go ahead with the z68 straight away.

Also where I can buy the parts, I have almost no idea about the shops at lamington road, any insights on this?

6870 cfx does beat 6850 cfx in FPS numbers but you wont notice any difference in actual gaming at HD resolution even with all effect maxed out. So why spend extra :)
