Microsoft Optical cable Mouse Problem

Hello Friend,
1 Week before i purchased the Microsoft Combo Kit(Keyboard + optical cable Mouse). The mouse does not responds to my movement. What happens is that the mouse pointer goes to the four corners of the monitor i.e., near to the start button,closing button in the window,extreme top left of the window, extreme bottom right of the window.
It makes me to feel irritation while using...
Please give me the clear solution to rectify this problem.
Have u got any Solutions......Please....

just a week before na...get it replaced .....even if the problem persist then report here else it might be a hardware problem only...and before changing u can try doing this as it's possible that something has corrupted your mouse driver. You can either 1) re-install the driver, or 2) roll back the driver. Either one of these may help. To roll back your driver in Windows XP, go to Start --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Mouse. Click on the "hardware" tab. Select the appropriate pointing device, and click "properties." Click the driver tab, then select "roll back driver."

Under the "hardware" tab, there may be more than one mouse. If this is the case, select the one that is not used, follow the settings above, and then select "uninstall." Or, you can go into Control Panel --> System --> Hardware --> Device Manager, and remove the device under "Mice and other pointing devices."
