The next version of Windows Live Messenger 8 beta was released to official managed beta-testers (invited directly by Microsoft).

New Features

- New UI design

- New contact list behavior (no more hover behavior)

- Return of old status icons

- Sharing folders status and progress bars

- Sharing folders activity log in a separate window

- New voice platform

- Improved reliability

- Improved stability

- Improved performance

These were the new features listed in the mail I received. I can definitely say that it is faster.. much faster and more usable but the old status icons look sick. The new interface takes some time to get used to and changing the color doesn't really make it look very good.

Note: The transparency in the screenshot is not part of the original program.

I think news is good, but actually its of no good use to us,since we will not be able to test it,u need to be official beta testers

Beta Testers

I am an official beta tester... I am sure there are many beta testers among the users at this forum. If I get a link to a leaked install copy, I'll put it up here. I am not going to risk being removed from the beta program by putting up the install file I got online.
