I have a dual boot system with Windows 98SE and Windows XP. Video files are skipping in all media players (WME9, Realplayer, PowerDVD etc) in Win98, but the same files are playing okay in XP. Also, these video files are playing okay in the Windows Media player of Windows 98 OS if played from Windows XP.
Will I have to format C drive and reinstall Windows 98 for this problem to be solved ? I want to avoid this as the MBR will change after the installation of Windows 98 and I will have to subsequently install Windows XP for it to replace the older OS boot sector with its own. Is there any other way of getting round this problem ?
