You can definitely run Windows 7 through bootcamp in MacBook Pro.

Now about your question, it's upto you to choose an OS. You can basically do all the necessary jobs across both OS and a similar set of software are available to both of the platforms. If you're satisfied with Windows 7 and want to save some bucks, go for Dell. On the other hand, if you're attracted to Mac OS X for whatever reasons, you can go for it, provided you can spend that amount of cash. MacBook Pros are superbly built machines and usually serves the users for a long period.

See if all you care is to run Windows 7 on Mac Pro or windows laptop, then i strongly suggest go for Dell or Sony vio Laptop. Besides Running Windows 7 with Native hardware support and more support all devices,it will also be faster on win laptop and same money will buy higher configuration windows based laptop.
Besides I still dont understand whats the point of running windows 7 on mac platform.
But if you are open to running Snow Leopard and using it then go for Mac Pro as they do enjoy longer life.
So basically choose your laptop on the OS you are going to use and then invest accordingly.

Performance is directly dependent on hardware inside the chasis, and AFAIK MacBook Pro hardware is pretty good for running a Windows 7 installation. Apple has provided almost all the necessary drivers for Windows except for the multitouch feature in their glass touchpad. So it's not going to be much of a problem to run Windows 7 natively.

I have already said that it's your choice of OS at the first place. Choose the hardware according to your OS selection.

What about the base Macbook for 56K?
Also have you worked on a mac before? Try it out somewhere before you buy one just to make sure you like the whole OS :)

yup. if u don't have water heater at home, u can use it to boil water or eggs for u. cause MacBook Pro (the 1 using i5 & i7) literally heat upto 100degree.
That was an unusual issue. And the MBP he is after is the 13" model, which doesn't have Core i5/i7 option at all.
