lost drives in windows xp

hello al of u
i have lost the cd drives in windows xp. any virus or trojan goung round which i don't know. the drives r showing in windows me.
device manager shows exclamation mark . if i reinstall its is the same
any idea

device manager shows exclamation mark in Me or Xp .

- did u try system restore .
- remove the primary and seconday ide controllers from device manager and reboot

Hmmm... In the Device Manager, Right Click on the device that shows the Exclamation mark .. and select Properties .. Now copy and paste the info in Device Status field here ...
