Today LG announced their latest touch-based all-in-one phone - the LG KC910. Coming as a successor of the widely popular LG KU990 Viewty, the KC910 is a real multimedia powerhouse, packing a whole load of extras.
Equipped with an 8 megapixel auto focus camera the LG KC910 is the first feature phone of the company to sport Wi-Fi connectivity. In addition it extends the functionality of the Viewty with GPS, which allows geo-tagging of the photos.

The camera of theKC910 uses Schneider-Kreuznach optics and has a protective cover. The sweet VGA videos at 30 fps and slow motion 120 fps QVGA videos are also there. A xenon flash is also on board to facilitate photography in low-light conditions. The display of the new LG will be a 3" 262K color one with a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels.
Connectivity is also duly covered in the LG KC910, which has support for all the four GSM bands. 3G with HSDPA is also available and so are Bluetooth and USB. The final extras of the KC910 include microSD card slot, TV-out support, Xvid and DivX video playback and Dolby sound for the music.
All in all, the LG KC910 is rather similar to the other recently announced 8 megapixel phones as far as the specs sheets are concerned. The Samsung i8510 INNOV8 and the Sony Ericsson C905 are on par with the KC910, except for the lack of touchscreen functionality and the fact that the Samsung packs Symbian OS. Also, LG KC910 is only 14mm thick as opposed to 17.2mm of the INNOV8 and 19.5mm of the C905.

The 8 mp war is hotting up now.

Here is what we can call an Iphone killer. But, the number of problems they had with viewty, its still early to trust this device.

IMO N96 is a competitor to all 5mp phone only.Nokia has yet to made a 8mp to compete with C905,INNOV8.

two things are missing --
1. led flash light for video recording in low light
2. optical zoom ..

these two would make it a perfect feature phone, atleast specswise ..

Neither of the 8mp phones are direct rivals to N95. First of all N96 is not a camera phone at all. It is more of a video phone. That's why they removed the xenon flash and lens cover and instead put the big display, kickstand, 16gb memory and DVB-H. I assume like the N95 8gb, N96 will also come with some movie saved on the memory.

Unlike K850i, C905 only faces a few competitors. Besides the much more expensive i8510, the market will be lacking 8 Mp devices for quite a while; Nokia will only release a comparable solution in winter, as well as LG. KC910, the sequel to the KU990 Viewty bestseller, turned out to be a very successful solution; yet it didn’t reach the mass scale of sales that the predecessor used to enjoy: the price question backfired again. Sporting perfect camera and touchscreen capabilities, KC910 has a very unattractive price label; the keyboard-equipped gadgets taking on a more important role on the market, the traditional candy bar form factor of KC910 doesn’t contribute much to the product’s popularity as well. Both factors combined, KC910 ends up being a fancy choice for a limited number of well-to-do customers, falling out of the mass market race. Keeping this point in mind, it becomes clear that the low direct competition leaves much freedom for C905 to go on conquering and to conquer, at least until the release of comparable LG and Nokia gadgets. C905 is a highly expected (yet not as highly priced) product sporting a perfect price/functionality ratio, assuming a most honorable position within Sony Ericsson’s portfolio. Design, measurements and weight are very well-balanced; we failed to find a slightest fault in this general aspect, which gives the product a big plus in the mass-market outlook. C905 is the most likely candidate for the first best selling 8 Mp cameraphone; should it establish strong positions by the arrival of LG and Nokia competitors, the chances are that it will hold a leading position for some time even pitted against these formidable opponents. A very affordable price generously compensates for not the highest specifications around; still the functionality keeps on a pleasingly high level. As much of a focus as possible is kept on the camera aspect, so don’t expect any concessions in this sphere; this is what should give the model enough popularity to become a successful mass market entry.
