if there is a free ram slot, you can install a stick. will cost 1.2-1.4k for 2Gb DDR2. for graphics card, first check if a free PCIe slot is available. and wattage of your current PSU. it'll surely be a generic one. and budget for graphics card (& PSU).

moreover M57 uses slim tower cabinet. so a low height GPU will be required low-midrange card.

i would suggest open ur case & first verrify that ur MB has a physical pcieX16 sloth also the no. of existing ram sloths & config the 2gb RAM is likely to be 2X1Gb check this & reply back so that we can suggest

Yes I do have a pcie x16 slot. I'm having 4 slots for ram. Now there is only one stick of 2GB fixed. But I don't know its clock speed. BTW one doubt can I fix a ddr2 ram of different clock speed along with the present one. Now I don't know whether I'm asking a foolish question. Can ddr2 & ddr3 rams used together?

after all my prime importance is to increase my ram and add a dedicated gpu. I use graphics rich modelling softwareS.G

I else where found the complete spec of my PC.once I got it I'll upload it too

....NO SORRY ITS 2 X 1GB

u can install same type rams with different speeds together compatibity will depend upon the Motherboard the higher clock will automatically clock down to match but to mix ram types i.e ddr2 & ddr3 is not possible there r some mb's supporting both ddr2 &3 but in them u have to install either one type mixing will not work

For the GPU if ur not changing the psu the max u can go is ATI HD6670(unsure)400 Watt or greater power supply recommended
i feel the a 300-350W psu is installed in that pc verify that there will be a sticker attached to the psu revealing the specks
also please download cpuz from here & post the screenshots of cpu& memory tabs
CPUID - System & hardware benchmark, monitoring, reporting

also mention ur case is a slim tower type or MT type

It has 3 PCI & 4 DIMM slots

you have to change your power supply as 280W is not enough for your desired upgrades.you can get fsp saga II 400W for ~1900(2 yr warranty) or corsair CX430V2 for ~2400(3 yr warranty).msi/sapphire radeon 6670 1 gb gddr5 card will cost ~5100-5400.

OK thanks... now my friend is ready to give me a ddr2 ram... it reads like this 'DS2-800-2G 2GB 800Mhz' -

and

a Asus GeForce EN210 Silent 512M DDR2 GPU.

------- can i fit both these in my system if i buy fsp saga II 400W

your current ram is 667 type so 800 type ram will run at reduced frequency of 333MHz instead of 400MHz.

geforce 210 is a very basic graphics card & not recommended.read this to get a better idea:

fsp saga II 400W is enough for your ram & graphics card upto 6670.

P.S.--667,800,1066,1333,1600 etc are not the actual frequency of ram but MT/s rate which is double the actual ram frequency.

it should not matter but if i have to give a suggestion i would suggest installing 2 older ram sticks in 1st 2 slots & new ram in 3rd slot.
