Laptop for Dad (30-50K)

1) What is your budget? (INR or USD)


2) What size & weight consideration (if any) would you prefer?
  • Netbook; 11" - 10” screen or less
  • Thin and Light; 12" - 14" screen
  • Mainstream; 15" - 16" screen
  • Desktop Replacement; 17"+ screen

3) What are the primary tasks you will be performing with this notebook?


Word, Excel, Printing, Media Consumption etc. Basically need a rugged office laptop that works smoothly.


5) Any typical configuration in your mind you're eying for ?
Nothing in specific, but i5 or higher (or Ryzen equivalent) would be better

4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?
a. Like: All
b. Dislike: Any brands without after sales support or questionable after sales.


6) Anything else you would like to say?
  • Screen resolution ( 768p (HD) / 900p / 1080p (Full HD) ) - FHD or more
  • Battery back up ( normal (3-4hrs) / extended (5-7hrs) ) At least 5-6 hours
  • Purchase place ( Online (eg - flipkart, infibeam) / Local / Abroad (do mention the country) ) - no preference, but Local

Hmm.. Build quality is sorta important though. I think processor wise Ryzen 5 is not absolutely needed though? It's just MS office, browsing etc mostly. I know, it doesn't hurt, but still.

4 core CPU would be the minimum you should get in 2022, everything will benefit. 40k laptops have 2c/4t CPUs. 48k laptop has 6c/12t, so not a bad deal. Not like any cheap laptop has a great build quality, might have to increase to at least 60-70k for ultrabooks.
