Laptop Combo Drive Prob

I am using Compaq Presario 2205AL Laptop. My prob is that whenever I reboot my system its CDR/DVD combo drive's green light keeps on blinking untill I open and close it once.

What cud be the problem? Is the drive faulty.

Try removing the cables n reconnecting them.

1) is there a cd in the drive????-remove it
2)recconect the wirs
3) well the green light must blink but not always
4) have u encoutered any problem after this ?
5) do not open it and let the green light to blink and see what happens

There is no CD in the drive.

To reconnect I will need to open the laptop which i have never done before and the warranty may get void if I do so.

If I do not open and close the drive it will keep on blinking even if left for hours.

The problem is that sometimes it makes my system slow
