Is text to speech conversion possible

Guys can we convert a text of *.txt or *.doc in to a speech i.e; a voice file may be*.wav is possible,guys can you tell which API can do this

Microsoft Speech Engine is one of the many which can do this.. installed when u install Office

There are hundreds of such software

what Nav11aug pointed out was indeed correct. It is SAPI (Speech API) from microsoft, its possible to convert Text to voice using SAPI 5.1. There is full API support for C++. In fact SAPI can also be used to convert Voice to Text but its a bit difficult.

linux have festival txt-2-speech codebase is open source,u can have a look there for some ideas reg.

im dunno much abt linux libraries but if u wrkinin Windows , cnt u get the source fr those GNU libraries and recompile them or smthin on Windows platfrom...

Is it possible or is it tht itz a lot of effrt
