I am not considering any AMD solutions.

My second query is about motherboards.
Is there any difference between the original motherboard
and the chipset of same motherboard.Whcih one is better
and is more feasible to upgrade or buy to.

Hi Sidbit

I would recommend you for AMD. You can get a better performing system for a similar price. But still if you wish to go in for an Intel system. I would recommend additional 128 MB RAM atleast and make sure it is DDR 400. In case you are going for a good motherboard like ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI then its OK if you go for the same chipset otherwise go in for the the Intel motherboard.

Isn't an HT version of the 2.0 available?
He cud try that.

Definitely increase ur RAM to at least 256mb. U know that dell and gateway put 128mb standard on their comps way back in 98?

What do u mean by original mobo?
Gigabyte's mobos on the 865 chipset are just as original as the generic intel ones. Basically they might have a few extra features.
