Is it a problem with the dvd's or the writer?

I buy cheap DVD's 10-12 Rs. namely of Afa and National companies. Whenever I burn movies or songs over them. Then most of the times not all of the files end up running.
Some do not play possibly because they are corrupt and if trying to copy give a cyclic redundancy error.
Usually I burn them at 8X or 16X depending on whatever the DVD supports.
So should I burn them at lower speeds?
I do not really think it is something to do with the media as once I burnt a moser baer DVD and it also gave the same problem with one of the files not running.

I burn it from my friend's Lite On DVD writer.
So how to resolve the problem that is how should I burn the DVDs so all the files in it end up running?
The problem is not always but in almost 80% of the cases.

National SUCKS. Period.

Moser Baer showing problems is very rare and yes you can try 8x for a 16x media for a safer bet. But don't get any unbranded media except Scorpio or Writex

Yes. The problem is with DVD's. Add few bucks and go for branded ones. Instead of purchasing 2 local made, purchase 1 branded one. That will give the value for money.

Just try reducing the speed, it may not be good when writing at maximum supported speed

dont settle for anything other than moser baer....Imation, Sony and maxell are other good options...but MB is cheaper..
I fully agree with what Kiran_tech_mania has said...
Also write at lower speed..

yeah..try with lower speed..say i buy 50 national DVDs pack of Rs 450!Which is all of 16x speed. But i burn them with 8x speed and leaving atleast 300 to 400 MB free. Its working fine...

yeah..i have LG DVD writer..may be ur Lite on is doing some nasty thing? ;).i mean..try ur DVDs on some other writer also..and with lower speed..say if its 16 then do it at 8x or if its 8x then do it at 4x (thats too much slow na?):).

regards.

yup I too use NATIONAL DVDs for my GAMES (i hv burned almost a 100 national brand DVDs)and I always burn them at 4x or 8x but never at 16x with my SONY Writer..and hv had NO problems with that, try burning at low speeds.. :)

also, for DATA backup, use a good pendrive or a GOOD branded DVD like moserBaer or an external HDD (pay once for buying it and use it for a lifetime for storage)

Cheers n e-peace..
