internet explorer 6

i am using internet explorer 6.however the same is not listed in my add\remove programme list.is it like that or not

yes, its like that...Internet Explorer is integral part of the OS (assuming you have winxp) and cant be uninstalled, thats why you dont see it in the list of Programs you installed in add/remove programs...however if you click on add/remove program>> windows components, you will see internet explorer listed there....BUT if you try to remove it from there, it wont uninstall it...it will just remove access to IE icon from desktop and start menu...IE will still be there in your computer.

If you upgraded to IE 6 from an older version, it's entry should be there in the Add/Remove dialog.

Use TweakUI. It will check if your Add/Remove list is corrupted and repair it. You can get the software from the Micro$oft's website.
