U can install both on the same IDE Channel, one as master & other as slave, just make sure the jumpas on the Drives are connected rite, better if U call the service guy & let him do it, just tell him that instll both on the same channel it is recomended to let the HDD on it's own independent channel

First give a full data cable for the two data cable for the 2 optical drives.
Now connect the optical drive on the topmost pin on cable. This is the P Master nd the 2nd is Primary Slave. The jumper positions are marked in the back of the optical drive nd connect it according to Ur choice. The one which U like to make the master is plugged in the upper port of the cable nd the jumper is set to the cotrresponding position.Similarly the slave also.

It's simple...

Primary Master - Hard Disk [mandatory]
Primary Slave - Hard Disk OR Optical Drive
Secondary Master - Optical drive (optical drvie one)
Secondary Slave - Optical Drive (optical drive two)

When i installed two optical drives, i dint bother to change the jumpers, and it worked fine.

in addition , make sure ur using 80 conductor cable for HDD and 40 conductor cable for optical drives is ur using doc's drive settings above . For 80 conductor cable , make sure blue end is fixed to the m/b , grey in middle is blank or optical drive and black end is to the HDD
