Right off the assembly line
I am currently using windows XP but due do some problems I want to reinstall win XP but when I tried to reinstall it I encountered following problems

1. I am unable to boot using win XP CD.
2. And when I boot my computer with different CD then tried to install win XP in Dos by following These steps
A :\> f: (Where f: is my CD-ROM drive.)

F:\>cd i386
F:\i386>winnt
The following message is shown on blue screen

An internal setup error has occurred
Could not find a place for swap file
Set cannot continue. Press enter to exit

I have a 40 GB hard disk and currently XP in installed in c drive

Please help me to sort out this problem :)

i just answered a similar question yest !
and it had the same text

get smartdrv.exe and run it before u run setup !!
now i wont tell u where to get smartdrv.exe from
nooo sirrreee !!
search for it

Lol ... Raven .. Its his first post yaar .. (and I have spare time) ..

vikhyat Goto your friend who is running Windows 98 or Me on his computer .. Create a startup disk on his computer and Search the Windows folder for Smartdrv.exe .. Copy this file in the Startup Disk too ..

Now boot up your computer with this disk and run Smartdrv.exe first ..
Now run the x:\i386\winnt.exe to run the XP Setup ..

You can also download Windows XP Boot disks and install with those .. (IMHO this one is the better option .. ) ..
