install 98 in c,allready xp in d.help

hi..guys

my problem is diffrent ....i hav win xp n win98 on my system ...win 98 in c drive n xp in drive d....my 98 hav got currupted the error messsege says to reinstall my 98 windows ...but when i tried to reinstall it ...after cheaking disk it shows newer version already on system ....setup cannot continue ...i tried many times but same problem..pls helm me i dont know what to do.
win 98 is necessary for me to run some program which not campatible with xp.. help pls..i would be greatfull.

u will HAVE to do a new install of 98
after which ur XP wont work ofcourse
i cant seem to find the topic where this was discussed here already ... neither cna i rem. the link

ull need either a bootable cd of WIN98 ... or ull need to have a bootable floppy disk to go into dos
from there u can run the win98 setup .. NOT FROM XP

after this when ur XP doesnt work no more ... ull have to use the XP boot cd ...
enter the recovery console ...and type in
"fixboot"
"fixmbr"
without the quote ofcourse

BTW u can use XP's compatibility mode to run most programs

Windows 98 c:
Windows XP Pro D:

all u need to do is make a bootable floppy or a bootable cdrom and boot into command prompt

then install windows 98
if u have it on ur cdrom then to start the setup in ms-dos,
x:>cd windows98
x:\windows98>setup.exe /is

this wod install the windows 98 again on ur c: anfter following the necessary steps in setup

as far as possible backup all ur data on c: including ur desktop, my documents folder to d: and format c: and make a clean install for better performance

i guess this wod do the trick

pranay can every system run winxp??

man ppl dun dump there modest p2 400mhz kinda machines to scrap

n besides some softwares have compatibility issues with windows xp

also, windows 98 is the most used and "still believed" to b "the most user-friendly" OS for a comman man in india.

trust me dude id be the first one to jump at the opportunity to tell someone that
the fact of the matter is the old topic was deleted ... it no longer exists
i couldnt find it atleast
thats y .. make sure of something before u say it and always post links to prove ur point

the dude is only usiong 98 for his older programs
he either doesnt know abt compatibility mode or it doesnt work for me
anyways ppl still do use 98 ...
i think ujjwal uses 98 .. and hes very good at troubleshooting it too

boot ur system with the help of win98 bootable flopy
and locate ur cd-rom ,, now install ur win98 now

no msg.. for new version !!!!
