no, i already hav the vista skin changed using the patch uxtheme.dll. i dont hav the icons changed. and i dont want to install that vista insp. pack... i hav already did that and not impressed. moreover, i wanted to change the icons of those only i prefer to. so this way is better. i hav managed to changte the icons of my computer, recycle bin, broadband conx. etc... and a few. anyways, i ll look at that transformation pack. thks for the suggestion.

yes.. Vista inps didn't impress me too...... but Vista Transformation 2.0 is abit good... it changes the boot screen to vista [as before as VT 1] and added some extra themes. most imp'ly it makes the screen tranparant as Vista.... it will be nice if they put the WMP 11 screen with it.....

vishal gupta, thks for the info! i jus recognised that. however, i wud like to know if tuneup styler service(winstyler) has to always run for the changes to be existing permanently? coz i usually make the service "manual" or "disabled" as i dont use it.

No! U don't need to run the service to take affect everytime!

It writes some Registry entries to change the icons, hence u don't need to run the service...

If u just want to change the icons of the HDD partitions in explorer then create a file called 'autorun.inf' in the root of each drive without quotes and in the file write:

[autorun]
icon=xyz.ico

Save the file and restart. Now you can see the changes. Enter the correct patrh of the icon in icon=xyz.ico. Or copy the icon in the root of the drive with autorun.inf
