icon overlaps in win98

whenever open a folder then all the contents get vanished but when i go
back and again open them they appear.
all the files are placed on top of each other i.e,one files icon lies on
the half of the others.tell me how to cure this.

About the vanishing part,it is because the icons refresh themselves when you open the folder for the first time.Also do the icons place themselves upon each other inspite of auto arranging them?

For 98SE, Go to My Computer,and then Right Click and select option Arrange Icons and click By Name.After this Right Click again and in Arrange Icons option select Auto Arrange.Then go to View Menu and there select Folder Options.In that,select View Tab and click the button Like Current Folder and click OK.
If u are using XP,Folder Options will be in Tools Menu in Menu Bar and remaing steps are same.
