what do u mean any type of dvd ??
ull be able to play the same dvd's u can as when connected to ur tv
anyways u can connect it only if u have a tv-in on ur graphics card
or if ur monitor has extra connections like composite, svideo etc. which i doubt
u can also connect it via the cable wire if its supported and if u have a tv tuner

What i understand from ur post is that u want to connect ur DVD player to ur computer so that u can read Data DVD's as well. I think that's not possible. Even if it is, it will be more expensive than a DVD drive.
